What is Help to Buy?
The Help to Buy scheme, which is available exclusively on new homes, helps both first-time buyers and existing homeowners to move up the property ladder.
By putting down a deposit of just 5%, you could qualify for a government Help to Buy Equity Loan worth 20% of the value of a home at Brabazon, with the remaining 75% covered by a mortgage from a participating lender.
However, the qualifying criteria for the current Help to Buy scheme are changing soon. Eligible buyers would need to reserve a new home at Brabazon available under the current Help to Buy scheme before 15th December 2020 in order to take advantage.
What is the Current Stamp Duty Holiday?
In July 2020 the UK Government announced a Stamp Duty holiday on property purchases worth up to £500,000 until 31st March 2021.
This means that buyers will pay no Stamp Duty at all if they complete the purchase of their new home before the deadline, offering a saving of up to £15,000. Learn more about stamp duty.
