A Place to Reset

Brabazon Park will offer space to breathe. Equivalent in size to Bristol’s Castle Park, with 15 acres of new green space of new green space, this will be a place for visitors to relax and reconnect with nature; stroll along the tranquil trails, sit beneath the shade of a tree, or simply lay out on the lawn.

A lake will feature at the heart of the park with lakeside viewing spots that offer a calming place to sit and watch the world go by, while aquatic planting and landscaped gardens will bring the park to life, for people and for nature.

A Place to Exercise

Brabazon Park will be a place to get outdoors. Here, cyclists, runners and nature lovers will rub shoulders with families, dog-walkers and those simply seeking a place to unwind and watch the world go by.

There will be dedicated exercise areas and outdoor fitness equipment while new pedestrian and cycle routes will connect the park with YTL Arena Bristol, the urban centre of Brabazon, and the wider North Bristol community.

A Place to Socialise

Brabazon Park will be a place to get together. Whether you’re following the Heritage Trail, watching your little ones in the woodland play park or finding your new favourite coffee spot on the lakeside boardwalk, this will be a new social hub for Bristol.

There will be new sports facilities, children’s playgrounds, kiosks and cafes, as well as public platforms for culture, art and performance where everyone is welcome to come and play.

Brabazon Park is expected to open to the public in sections from 2025*. And much more green space is coming over the horizon at Brabazon, with more than 86 acres of parks, playgrounds, landscaped gardens, sports fields and public squares planned for the neighbourhood.

What is Brabazon Park?

Brabazon Park is a new public park for Bristol and South Gloucestershire. 

Spanning almost 15 acres (14.4 acres or 5.8 hectares), Brabazon Park will be equivalent in size to Bristol’s Castle Park and will be the largest new urban park to be built in the South West for over 50 years. 

It will make up a part of over 86 acres (35 hectares) of green spaces, pocket parks, playgrounds, gardens, sports fields and public squares planned for Brabazon.

Where is Brabazon Park?

Brabazon Park will be located at the heart of Brabazon - the thriving new neighbourhood being built in North Bristol, on the site of the former Filton Airfield.

What is planned for Brabazon Park?

The plans for Brabazon Park include a 2.5-acre lake, manicured picnic lawns, landscaped gardens, and a floating boardwalk of independent eateries and lakeside seating areas.

There will be a children’s playground with woodland-themed play park and slides that are integrated into the landform; exercise areas with outdoor fitness equipment; table tennis tables and a Petanque court. Public facilities will include toilets, cafes and kiosks.

There will also be an informative Heritage Trail that connects the Brabazon Hangars with Aerospace Bristol Museum to retell the history of the airfield’s pioneering past.

When will Brabazon Park open?

Work will start on Brabazon Park in 2024 with the first section of the park expected to open to the public in 2025*.
